This does not include editorial feedback on story elements, pacing, and other copy issues.

What to expect:

• Discovery call and discussion about your piece and your goals

• Evaluation/reading period (7-10 working days)

• One-page authenticity evaluation: my reading of your piece and a list of elements the author might want to consider revising or researching more

• 1:1 session to discuss the evaluation

• Recommendations and resources relevant to the piece

Note: Authenticity or Sensitivity reading is the targeted and specific work of evaluating writing for any stereotypes it may perpetuate, checking for unconscious or internalized bias, and other inaccuracies and truisms.

Authenticity or Sensitivity reading is meant to improve the piece you’re writing, it’s is not about “getting permission” to write about a certain topic of character. It is not about protecting or shielding you from potential criticism for what you’re writing.
