LEARN SENSORY JOURNAL WRITING
How might journal writing change your life?
Writing in a journal, is a simple, but powerful form of self-care and personal agency. Using sensory prompts like sound or scent, we create a ritual that taps into the mental and emotional benefits of journal writing, as validated by latest neuroscientific research.* Ritualized writing clears up mind "chatter," and develops our clear inner voice. Once it becomes a habit, it empowers us to rewrite our story, and live on our own terms.

Let me help you get started.

In this live online session, I'll share sensory journaling exercises based on professor and comics creator Lynda Barry's book, "Syllabus."  This will not involve bullet journaling (bujo), or any "productivity hacks." No typing, either (the computer is for Zoom purposes only) -- just plain ol' writing.

You'll learn how to use essential oils (scent) and music (sound) to guide us through the writing flow using any pen and paper/journal, along with the Creative Care Package that I'll ship to you. Sign up to see the full workshop details now!

>>For US residents only
>>Sign-up closes at 2pm EST, June 21. 2021
>>The creative care package will be shipped before the workshop

I want to know more
about this workshop!

Hi, I'm Neva Talladen!

I'm a Writer and Freelance Editor. I'm usually in my tiny bungalow in Rockaway Beach, New York, happily writing my own essays as well as helping clients with their books and stories. In between this fulfilling creative work, I serve as a freelance Admin Editor for TalkingWriting.com.

I've always believed that writing is not just for writers (or not just for the sake of getting published, anyway). Writing for yourself, pen-to-paper, is one of the simplest, and most effective ways of self-care. It's through our bodies and senses that we truly know ourselves, and self-knowledge is powerful. As with a story, you can only write what you know. Knowing yourself is to know how to steer the story and rewrite it if needed.

Journaling from a young age has helped me stay true to myself through many life events. It became a ritual I could turn to whenever I felt conflicted. Over the years, I've learned to incorporate sound and olfactory prompts to engage my senses, and bring a little bit of nature indoors, deepening the practice. Ritualized journal writing helped me break free from my mind's harmful mental chatter, and became a way for me to self-soothe whenever I felt afraid or anxious.

Join my Sensory Journal Writing Workshop to learn about ritualized journal writing for self-care. Yes, even if you're not a "writer"! Get more info here.
